Not long ago I wrote about the screening in Stuttgart of Thomas Honickel’s film about W.G. Sebald called Der Ausgewanderte (”The Emigrant”). Honickel has just announced two new screenings for the 44-minute biographical film, which was originally shown on German television last November. A screening will take place at the Maison Heinrich Heine in Paris on February 21, 2008. Appearing with Honickel will be Jan Peter Tripp and Ruth Vogel-Klein, professor at l’École Normale Supérieure. For more detailed information, go to the Maison Heinrich Heine website, click on Infos, then on Calendrier. In 2000, Sebald received the Heinrich Heine Prize.

On March 6, Honickel will screen the film at Dom Norymberski in Kraków, Poland. This time he will be accompanied by the wonderful Polish poet Adam Zagajewski. I do not have any further information on this event, but hopefully something will be posted on their website before too long.
