Peripatetic Liminality

A recent post made a brief mention of an upcoming lecture at Deutsches HausColumbia University on W.G. Sebald.

October 4
Christian Moser: “Peripatetic Liminality: W.G. Sebald and the Tradition of the Literary Walk”
Moser will discuss W. G. Sebald’s notion of travel as a philosophic reflection on the self, cognition and literature.

Moser is a Distinguished Visiting Professor of Germanic Languages at Columbia University. Good luck finding his talk! Maybe everyone at Columbia is still in shock after the appearance of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. If anyone goes, please let me know if time flows backward for an hour on Thursday night.

  1. Hey,

Its at Deutsches Haus on Morningside Heights Campus. 8 to 9pm. There is a contact name on the columbia site for it – Isabel Schauerte – is2189[at]columbia.edu. It seems that they got the backwards time thing sorted out too…

  2. Oh, by the way, I forgot to mention how much I like your blog. Not only a great source of information but also the writing is articulate and with a fine eye for the telling detail. Many thanks
